NEW SYSTEMS TO RAPIDLY COOL AIRCRAFT PARKED AT DUBAI INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT’S CONCOURSE C

Share

Dubai International Airport is installing new Pre-Conditioned Air (PCA) systems – capable of rapidly cooling wide-bodied aircraft up to the size of the A380 even in the hot and humid conditions common to Dubai – as part of the upgrade of Concourse C.

Designed by Cavotec, the specially designed PCA systems are expected to enhance passenger comfort and operational efficiency, and reduce the airport’s impact on the environment.

Cavotec admits that meeting technical requirements for cooling aircraft in Dubai is a difficult task, but claims that working closely with Dubai Airports enabled it to master the engineering parameters related to the challenging local ambient conditions.

Indeed, local environmental conditions were just a few of the engineering parameters incorporated into the design criteria for this unique turnkey solution.

“Cavotec is always at the forefront of innovative solutions, and Dubai Airport is already using its services at Terminal 1’s Concourse 4, Terminal 3’s concourses, the EXPO Remote Apron, and Terminal 2 remote aprons,” says Siva Anand, Cavotec’s global business development director for airport systems.
