NEW SHOPPING CENTRE TO OPEN AT BRISBANE AIRPORT THIS WEEKEND

Share

The brand new A$18 million Skygate Home & Life centre, the latest addition to Brisbane Airport’s thriving Skygate precinct, will celebrate its grand opening this weekend.

Following 10 months of construction, the project adds an extra 9,260m² of retail space to the precinct that already boasts DFO Brisbane, Queensland’s only 24/7 Woolworths and more than 160 specialty retailers.

Around 60 jobs were created during construction with an estimated 80 full time and part time operational and retail positions going forward, adding to the growing workforce at Brisbane Airport which now exceeds 24,000.

Skygate Home & Life adds a new dimension to the retail offerings within the precinct, introducing a range of furniture and home-ware stores – Nick Scali, TK Maxx, James Lane, Sleeping Giant, Lighting Illusions, Pillow Talk, Early Settler, and Deco Rug.

Brisbane Airport Corporation’s general manager of commercial businesses, John Tormey, said the new centre is testament to the way in which the Skygate precinct is continuing to emerge as a vibrant commercial and lifestyle destination.

“Gone are the days of Skygate being known for only fashion and food,” he notes. “Skygate Home & Life offers an unexpected and exciting new element when it comes to retail shopping within an airport precinct.

“The introduction of flagship furniture and home-ware retailers alongside more than 160 specialty stores makes the precinct a one-stop-shop for Brisbane locals,” adds Tormey.

From Saturday, opening hours for Skygate Home & Life are Monday to Wednesday 9:00-5:30pm, Thursday 9:00-9:00pm, Friday to Saturday 9:00-5:30pm and Sunday 10:00-5:00pm.

It is located at 30 The Circuit, Brisbane Airport – adjacent to the DFO.

And the growth of the airport precinct is set to continue, with a number of industrial and commercial projects underway, including a large warehouse for Miele and a campus-style business park within Skygate.
