Sun Group and Changi Airports International (CAI) have signed a strategic co-operation agreement to support the development of Phu Quoc International Airport in Vietnam.
Under the partnership, CAI will provide advisory services to enhance the airport operations, commercial programme, air connectivity and capacity and service enhancements.
The partnership aims to transform Phu Quoc International Airport into a travel destination, delivering world-class service standards and a seamless travel experience ahead of the APEC 2027 Summit, when the airport is expected to welcome global leaders and international visitors.

The collaboration further strengthens Phu Quoc’s position as an emerging aviation and tourism hub in the Asia-Pacific region.
POSITIONING PHU QUOC AS THE REGION’S NEW AVIATION GATEWAY
Phu Quoc International Airport, which handled about 6 million passengers in 2025, has experienced rapid growth in recent years.
Passenger numbers surged during peak travel periods, setting new records for international flights and reflecting strong demand from both regional and international markets.
The Government-approved master plan includes a new runway and Terminal 2, projecting the airport to handle up to capacity of 24 million passengers per year, scalable to 50 million in the long term, supporting broader aviation and economic growth in the region.

Under the partnership, CAI will work with Sun Group to manage Phu Quoc International Airport according to international standards.
The collaboration follows extensive exchanges in both Vietnam and Singapore, exploring opportunities to combine their complementary expertise in destination development and airport management.
BUILDING A WORLD-CLASS AIRPORT DESTINATION TOGETHER
Globally, Singapore Changi Airport is widely recognised for its operational excellence, combining efficient airport management with unique passenger experiences such that the airport is a destination in itself.
Sun Group, meanwhile, has developed integrated tourism, resort, and entertainment ecosystems across Vietnam, transforming previously lesser-known destinations into internationally recognised travel hubs.

By bringing together the best of CAI’s airport management expertise and Sun Group’s destination development experience, the partnership aims to create a distinctive travel destination at Phu Quoc, where aviation infrastructure and tourism experiences are seamlessly integrated.
Eugene Gan, CEO of CAI, noted: “We are impressed by Sun Group’s vision for developing Phu Quoc as the next upcoming travel destination.
“Its integrated tourism and entertainment eco-system provides a strong foundation for the long-term development of Phu Quoc International Airport as a key gateway for the island.
“We look forward to contributing our expertise to enable Sun Group to create a world-class airport experience.”

Dang Minh Truong, chairman of Sun Group, said: “Airports today play a far greater role than transportation infrastructure. They are gateways that shape the first impression of a destination.
“Singapore Changi Airport is widely recognised for its operational excellence and pioneering airport destination concept.
“Through this partnership with Changi Airports International, we aim to develop Phu Quoc International Airport into a true ‘airport destination’ where the travel experience begins the moment visitors arrive.”
